My first experiences navigating nonordinary reality were during spine surgeries in my youth. I was in an altered state for days. I know what it feels like to be alone in a darkness far greater than you can imagine. It became clear that I needed a well-structured methodology to navigate the vast expanse I had access to while under anesthesia. Core Shamanism gave me the personal ability to call in help during times of great pain and explore vast expanses of healing spiritual essence. This connection has been fundamental to my recovery and rebalancing.

Through guidance received in the core shamanic journey practice, I completed my BA in International Studies, Peace, and Conflict and MS in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution, and currently write a blog about disability related topics. I’ve also worked in a variety of roles supporting conflict resolution and mediation.

Getting out of the Middle World and into the Upper and Lower Worlds was key to my healing. For anyone who is interested in nonordinary reality or shamanism, it is fundamental that they have the core shamanic journey method in their tool kit. Being part of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies has helped in the struggle to balance the two realities, make sense of nonordinary reality experiences, receive unconditional guidance from the compassionate helping spirits, find community, and become a self-reliant agent of my spiritual healing.

It’s truly a privilege to teach this method and witness students step into their power, wisdom, and love through the core shamanic methodology.
