Circle of the Foundation Members Benefits
This page describes the benefits available to Circle of the Foundation Members. Depending upon your membership, you may receive some or all of these benefits. For a quick summary of member benefits, you may download the Compare Benefits chart in PDF format. All Circle of the Foundation Members receive the Shamanism Annual, the Foundation's scholarly journal; a listing in the Annual's Voluntary Circle of the Foundation Telephone Directory; the FSS E-Newsletter; access to the online FSS Circle, including the FSS Forum; a listing in the Shamanic Services directory on shamanism.org; plus invitations to special events sponsored by FSS. These benefits are described below. Depending on your membership, you may also qualify for the additional benefits of a Member Bio and special gifts, also described below.
The Shamanism Annual
The Shamanism Annual is the Foundation's scholarly journal. It contains articles about shamanism and shamanic consciousness worldwide, and other valuable information not accessible through the bimonthly E-Newsletter or the website. The Shamanism Annual also includes news about Foundation activities and the Voluntary Members Telephone Directory. (Inclusion in the Directory is optional. You'll be given the option to be included or not when you join.) If you choose to be listed, your listing will appear in the 2012 Directory if you join the Circle by November 5, 2012; otherwise, your listing will appear in the 2013 Directory. FSS E-NewsletterThe E-Newsletter is sent by email four times a year and includes Foundation news, course announcements, shamanic healing tips, news about shamanism worldwide, articles...and more. See a sample. FSS CircleThe FSS Circle is the area on our website exclusively for members of the Circle of the Foundation. From the FSS Circle pages, you can access the FSS Forum, where you can join in online discussions about shamanism and connect with other Circle participants worldwide. The Forum also includes articles and information about the practice of shamanism and shamanic healing. Through the FSS Circle, you may also access rare streaming audio from the FSS archives. Additional audio and video will be added periodically. Login to the Circle and use the "My FSS" feature to update contact information, edit a listing in the print Circle of the Foundation Directory, and add or edit a Shamanic Services Listing or Member Bio. Email notices will be sent to members as new features become available. Shamanic Services ListingsShare information about your shamanic practice with our website visitors. A listing in the Shamanic Services directory on shamanism.org includes your name, location, a 30-word description about your practice written by you, a photo or graphic, your website address, and an email contact form. To protect your privacy the email contact form does not disclose your email address to website visitors. Listings are optional and you can manage your listing through the members-only area of our website (full instructions will be emailed to you after processing your membership). Member Bios for Sponsoring and Council MembersThe public online Members Bio provides a way for you to network with others in the Circle of the Foundation, as well as letting the public know about you, your interests, experience, and practice. All bios include 150-word words about you, a photo or graphic, and an email contact form. To protect your privacy the contact link does not disclose your email address. Special Gifts for Sponsoring and Council MembersSponsoring and Council Members receive a special gift CD from the FSS archives, Shamans, Monks, and Reality, A Dialogue Between Brother David Steindl-Rast and Michael Harner. Council Members will also receive a gift DVD, Tibetan Shamanism and Buddhism, Larry Peters and Michael Harner in Dialogue. Invitation to Gathering of the CouncilCouncil Members will receive an invitation to the 2013 Gathering of the Council planned for late January 2013 in the San Francisco Bay Area, led by Susan Mokelke and featuring Michael Harner and special guests. 2012 Gathering of the Council. If you join or renew by December 19, 2011, you will also receive an invitation to the 2012 Gathering of the Council on Friday evening, January 27, and all day Saturday, January 28. The all-day Saturday Gathering will be led by Susan Mokelke and will feature a dialogue between Michael Harner and a special guest. Guest presentations include FSS Field Associate Kevin Turner's recent trip to Mongolia on behalf of the Foundation.
