Myron Eshowsky, M.S., C.S.C.

Myron is a longstanding teaching faculty member of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies. He has taught shamanism and its application to modern concerns all over the world since 1986 and is a passionate, creative, and inspiring teacher. He has practiced shamanic healing with thousands of clients and is also a Harner Method Certified Shamanic Counselor (C.S.C.).

He has published extensively on the use of shamanism in working in community mental health; preventing violence with youth at risk/street gangs; healing revenge as a spiritual sickness; healing work with prison inmates; shamanism and peacemaking; shamanic work in healing cancer and other aggressive illnesses; and healing places of history where violence repeats itself. (Click here to read some of Myron’s articles from the FSS journal Shamanism.)

"Myron brought to our class a profound depth of life experiences and healing work throughout the world that just boggled my mind. He was able to stretch my imagination of what is possible in the healing realm and not only give me the tools of how to do this work but also to inspire me with the confidence that this will be a reality for me in whatever form I choose to manifest. He was totally selfless and tireless in his desire to share his life’s experiences and knowledge in answering all of our questions." - Ed Douzanis, participant in Where are the Dreamers? Restoring Shamanism in Community Life

In his international peace work, Myron has worked with Israelis and Palestinians to help heal their mutual traumas/conflicts; healing work with survivors of the Chernobyl disaster; peace and healing work with survivors of the Balkans conflicts; peace and healing ceremonies in Africa; peace and healing work on several Native American reservations in the U.S.; and hate crime prevention and healing.

He is cofounder of Pathways Foundation for Peace and Healing, an organization bringing shamanic work to peacemaking. He is also the first known shamanic practitioner covered under a health insurance plan to provide shamanic healing.

Myron's book, Where are the Dreamers? Restoring Shamanism in Community Life, will be released in the summer of 2008.
